To go: $89555
Bankroll: $11445

2674 hands *** 4.7 hours *** 4.9 PTbb/100 *** 21.3/16.9 *** MT: 6.6

OK - 2 days in a row now where I have been in a bunch of difficult spots and made some bad decisions. I still netted over a grand in these 2 days, but I should have made a lot more. I'm going to go back and look at my numbers and check out what I'm doing wrong.

On the plus side of things, I have made a total profit of over $10,000.00 in 38 days. So I must be doing something right.

Rakeback came through for October: $96. I only played about a week in October, and it was pretty much only $50NL. November's rakeback should be pretty huge. I'm expecting over $500, which should get paid on the 15th of December.

Sick today, and I feel like hell. Decided to sit and play until something happened. I got all in with an overpair against a short stack and my hand held.

Day 22

Today: +$529
To date: +$5706
To go: $94294
Bankroll: $6706

1365 hands *** 2.7 hours *** 9.7 PTbb/100 *** 19.0/14.2 *** MT: 5.7

Good start for my first day at $200NL. This game is decidedly more aggressive than $100NL. A lot of raising and reraising preflop - which you just don't see at the lower limits. It seems that there are a lot more LAG players, and as a result no one ever gives you credit for a hand. I would have liked to be more aggressive than 14.2% - but often my button hands that I would want to raise were facing a limp and a raise in front of me. Maybe tomorrow I can get closer to 15-16% preflop raise. Maybe I won't need to - maybe people will keep overplaying their hands and donating. We'll see.

Tuesday, November 14, 2006

Finished with level two.

I have completed level two in an additional 2 weeks, moving me up to $200NL after 3 weeks. Here are my final numbers for $100NL:

18350 hands *** 35.25 hours *** 8.7 PTbb/100 *** 20.7/15.3 *** MT: 5.9

+$3626 making $102.86/hour

Sadly, all my bonuses are gone - the $600 deposit bonus was a great boost to the bankroll, but I still have rakeback. I'll be adding October's rakeback in soon, and I can be patient for the next re-deposit bonus to come around.

My blog on CardRunners.com is up. I'll be updating the CR blog as often as possible - especially when Taylor and I start working together. My first post was a good write-up about my poker history. Check it out:

Bankroll: $6177

2844 hands *** 6.6 hours *** 19.6 PTbb/100 *** 20.5/15.1 *** MT: 5.2

Got over $1,000 today! I was up $440 after my 1st session, and took a break. I came back later on in the night and quickly ran my profits up to $940. Then the rollercoaster hit. I swung up and down like you wouldn't believe, and this one guy kept bad beating me ridiculously. Always getting the $$ in behind and alway sucking out. I probably dumped 3-4 buyins to him. Well he played horrible and I stayed long enough to get most of it back, although I am sure I still left that table down. He was just one of those players. He had around $650 at one point on the table, and left the game a 3 buyin loser after he busted a couple times.

I played way too long, but I wanted to see if I could make $1k in one day at $100NL. Looks like I'll get to start $200NL tomorrow. :)

Day 20 - Over the $5k mark

Today: +$380
To date: +$4064
To go: $95936
Bankroll: $5064

1805 hands *** 3.0 hours *** 10.6 PTbb/100 *** 20.0/16.0 *** MT: 6.7

Great to be back home. Gotta love 8 tables with no overlap. It was a lot easier to play today. Got a late start - around 10:30pm, but I got 3 solid hours in and 1800 hands. Solid session and solid results running around 10PTbb/100.

Day 19

Today: +$75
To date: +$3684
To go: $96316
Bankroll: $4684

10 hands *** 0.1 hours *** 377.5 PTbb/100 *** 10/10 *** MT: 2.0

Well at least I kept my streak alive. I HAD to play today. I've played every single day for 18 straight days. So day 19 had to happen. Just a reason to keep this streak going I guess. I surely could have taken today off, but I wanted to play at least a few hands. I decided to play until I won some money - then I would stop. If that took 1 hand, then I would have played 1 hand. If it took 1000, then I'd have played 1000. Luckily, it only took 10 hands for me to come up. I raised 22 in late position and ended up stacking a guy on a K52 flop.

I can't wait to get back home tomorrow so that I can go back to 8-tabling on my desktop. Trying to play on this laptop was a pretty bad idea, but I made due for a couple days. I'm looking forward to getting 2k+ hands in tomorrow.

Day 18

Today: +$26
To date: +$3609
To go: $96391
Bankroll: $4609

224 hands *** 0.8 hours *** 5.7 PTbb/100 *** 25.8/18.3 *** MT: 3.5

Out of town for the weekend, so I'm on my laptop. GD this sucks. I went from 8-tabling on two 20" monitors to attempting to 4-table on my 12" screen on my laptop. Talk about overlap. I played about 200 hands and couldn't stand it anymore, so I called it quits. At least I played today. Maybe I'll get another 200 hands in tomorrow.

Day 17

Today: +$529
To date: +$3583
To go: $96417
Bankroll: $4583

2295 hands *** 3.9 hours *** 10.3 PTbb/100 *** 21.3/15.8 *** MT: 6.3

Talk about a rollercaoster. Within the first hour, I was at -$450. Around $400 of that coming by way of the bad beat. After 1100 hands, I was at -$60 and took a break. Came back and took some more beats, and was at -$200 again. Finally after around 1600 hands I got back to $0. Then people just started paying me off and my hands all held. That was sweet. +$530. Nice.

Here's my take on bad beats. I don't mind the bad beats. It's a part of poker, we all know that. The thing that pisses me off the most is that they kill my winrate. Well, at least the ones that are 2 and 3 buyin pots do. I really feel that I should be crushing this level, but I'm only running at 6.1PTbb/100 after 14k hands at $100NL. I've had some brutal beats for big pots, but then again, who hasn't?

I went through $50NL in 12k hands. $100NL is taking longer than I would like. But when I sit back and realize that I am up $3500 in 17 days at the lowest limits (20 buyins coming from $100NL), I'm cool with that. I'm sure variance will even out, as I really feel that I should be beating $100NL on FTP for around 10PTbb/100.

Chalk it up to variance.

Day 16

Today: +$177
To date: +$3054
To go: $96946
Bankroll: $4054

1284 hands *** 2.1 hours *** 5.4 PTbb/100 *** 19.9/16.0 *** MT: 6.9

I'm over the $4k mark on FTP. After 16 days I'm up more than 3k at the lowest limits. So I can't complain.

Despite this happening:

Day 15

Today: +$370
To date: +$2877
To go: $97123
Bankroll: $3877

1463 hands *** 2.4 hours *** 11.4 PTbb/100 *** 20.5/14.8 *** MT: 7.2

I'm not sure if I am running well or they just suck so bad at FTP. I took quite a few odd bad beats, like semi-bluffing with my AhKs all in on a 3h8h6h flop, and getting called by AcJh and then a J turning for a $220 pot. It's weird, but at least I'm getting the $$ in while im ahead.

Green Plastic of Cardrunners.com announced a few weeks ago that he would be mentoring a Cardrunners member. I applied and told him all about my personal history ('03 UT grad / 2x NCAA All-American & US Olympic Trials qualifier (track and field)) and about my poker history (I am pro at $200NL after 2-3 years of donking). Well today he announced his choice... ME! Unbelievable that I beat out some REALLY great poker players along with another couple thousand applicants to get this gig. I'll be getting my own blog on CR so that I can keep everyone up to date on my progress. I plan on doing everything I can to give back to the forum and the community that has given so much to me.

Day 9

Today: +$290
To date: +$1867
To go: $98133
Bankroll: $2867

1152 hands --- 2.7 hours --- 11.7 PTbb/100 --- 18.8/14.4 --- MT: 4.9

My first REAL day of playing $100 NL went great. Lost a couple coolers, set over sets, KK vs AA, 22 flop set all in vs AA river A, and I still came up almost 3 buyins. Most people misplaying hands and paying me off when they shouldn't. $100NL is definitely a more aggro game, and the increase in good players is very noticable at this level as compared to $50NL. Still, this level is very very beatable.
