Paying It Forward

A little over five months ago, I applied for Taylor's "Protege" program, and on November 7th, I was announced as one of the 2 lucky winners. At the time, my regular games were $100NL and $200NL, and with Taylor's help, I have been able to comfortably move up to $1000NL. I am very fortunate to work with Taylor; he has been incredibly instrumental in developing my game and making me a better player. I feel the time has come for me to pay it forward.

So with that said, I am accepting applications. I am looking for 2 students whose regular game is $25NL to $100NL, and who have joined CardRunners prior to today's date. Please feel free to tell me as much about yourself personally and poker-wise as you like. I would prefer that you contact me either via PM on CR, or by e-mailing me at hyperaggrdonk@yahoo.com . I hope to have my 2 students chosen by the end of the month, and starting our first lesson on May 1st.

I am happy for the opportunity I was given and I only hope I can do Taylor justice by helping 2 people reach their poker goals, as he continues to help me reach mine.

Thanks,

Nice break...

I've had a nice break from poker for almost 2 weeks now. I played almost 60k hands in March, and had a great month, but it left me a little bit burnt out. Starting out April, I felt I was only bringing my A- game to the tables. So I have drastically cut down my play; I've played about 3k hands so far for the first 2 weeks of March. Just taking it easy and playing ABC at 1/2 and 2/4... low stress relaxed poker. No 8-12 table madness for hours on end.

That said, I am geared up to start playing regularly again, so look for me to get back to 3/6 and 5/10 with a refreshed poker mind.

-Brian

PS: Roll is at approx $62k

Ran amazingly well today. I 12-tabled $400NL for a bit over an hour (hence the nittiness). Then looked over the 5/10 tables, and saw that 18 of them were running, so I decided to 4-table 5/10. Here are my numbers from the session:

Halfway there.

My BR is over $51,000. Which means that I am halfway to my goal of $101k! I've been playing 4-5 tables of 5/10, and when the games don't look good, I'll run 12 tables of 2/4 and play a long session.

Have had a few sessions at 5/10, and am a winner finally. My first 2 sessions I took some nasty beats, but I have managed to turn a profit finally after a few days.

Day 1??

OK, so I havent updated for a LONG time. I'll get to it. Along with a good old fashioned reflection on the last few weeks. Basically I went on a downswing. I figured i'd let updating slide a couple of days and I'd update after I had a solid winning session, but it turned into a couple of weeks. My bad.

Definitely one of my more aggressive sessions. Ran a couple good bluffs, and got a couple big hands paid off.

Day 104

FTP goes down 30 minutes into my session. Last hand I played, I raised JJ UTG, flop J64 with 2 spades, and I led at the flop. Then it froze. Wonder what will happen with that $$.

I was up approx $300 at that point, so I'll post those numbers for now. I'll ammend them next chance I get.

My pokertracker had all my completed hands in, but obviously not the hands that were unfinished. And PT had me at +$365. It looks like any hand that wasn't completed before the meltdown became null. Which is fine for me. All money that was in play gets returned. If I had a guy all in and drawing dead with 1 card to come, and then FTP went down, then I'd be pissed. But no worries, we'll continue tomorrow.

Day 103 - Over $40k

Today: +$1464
To date: +$39644

Bankroll: $40644

2754 hands *** 4.3 hours *** 4.4 PTbb/100 *** 28/23 *** MT: 4.8

Swing, swing, swing. I played 4 tables of HU against the same guy, so thats why my numbers are a bit aggro. Nice end to the day though, and I am finally over $40k. Let's hope I can stay above this number and avoid the downswings. GL me.
